Landslide disaster at pettimudy, Kerala, Ham Radio offered connectivity.

Kochi –  When the cell phone connectivity was disrupted for a radius of up to five km due to the landslide in Pettimudy, emergency messages were being transferred on time with the help of ham radio service, operated by the civil defence wing officials.

The civil defence wing officials of Kerela Fire and Rescue Services, which set up a ham radio centre near the accident spot, controlled the rescue mission by directly interacting with a control unit at Gandhinagar fire station here.

Even as all other communications networks went down in the area, emergency messages were being transferred on time with the help of the radio service.
